How Ontario sets the rules
Ontario opened its regulated online gambling market on April 4, 2022. iGaming Ontario conducts and manages that market, and the AGCO regulates it. A private online casino needs two things to be lawful in the province. One is AGCO registration, the other an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario. The directory of regulated sites is at igamingontario.ca, so any name can be checked there.
OLG.ca works differently: it is the online casino run by OLG, the provincial agency.
Age and place both count here. Nobody under 19 may enter a casino in Ontario, and online casino play in the province is 19+ as well. You also have to be physically inside Ontario while you play. A weekend in Orillia counts the same as an evening at home in Toronto.

Two ways to step away
BetGuard, at betguard.ca, blocks a person from every regulated Ontario online gambling site, OLG.ca included. iGaming Ontario has run it since May 14, 2026. The block lasts 6 months, 1 year, 5 years or a term the person sets. It does not apply to land-based casinos, Casino Rama Resort included.
OLG offers My PlayBreak for casinos. A casino break applies to every casino in Ontario, for 3 or 6 months or for 1 to 5 years, and once under way it cannot be cut short. To enrol, call the OLG Support Centre on 1-800-387-0098, speak with casino staff or drop into a PlaySmart Centre.
